Our History

Lumen Vitae was born out of a deep conviction that education can transform lives. Inspired by the resilience of Haitian children and the urgent need for access to schooling, we began as a small initiative and have since grown into a life-changing movement, providing hundreds of students with education, meals, and mentorship
Year 2010 2010

A 7.0 Magnitude earthquake was one more disaster for the poorest country in the western hemisphere which has already suffered from decade of political, economic and social setbacks and inequality.

Year 2011 2011

First group of Jesus Youth, led by Sunil Nadarajan, arrive in Haiti for a mission exploration in collaboration with Caritas In Veritate International, in an attempt to bring aid to internally displaced refugees living in Camp Corail in the city Croix-Des-Bouqets.

Year 2012 2012

After the first few trips, the National Council of Jesus Youth of America propose the launch of an Outreach Child Support project in Haiti working with Fr. Isaia Birollo CS & Yamile Galvis Lopez, a full time missionary working with the Scalabrini Fathers, to provide the resources to educate 25 children from Camp Corail.

Year 2017 2017

Jesus Youth of America creates a subsidiary charitable organization tasked to bring dignity through education to the poorest in the world. Several Jesus Youth leaders come together to form the Board of Directors, appointing Bijo Thomas as the Board President and Brian Mundackal as the Executive Director.

Year 2022 2022

Lumen Vitae is recognized as a Pious Association of the Faithful in Diocese of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne for the education and vocational formation of the young people.
